Can't close Konsole windows

I recently tried to correct some sound low-quality issues (with very minimal knowledge on how to do so), installing some packages for ALSA. Well, it wanted me to update some of my KDE libs, so after downloading and installing a few individual DEB packages (probably a bad idea) I ended up updating my distribution using "apt-get dist-upgrade". The result is that I still have some low-quality sound issues and now my Konsole windows refuse to close about 90% of the time (unless I do so through Taskmanager), which is quite annoying. I think I may be missing some necessary packages.

Does anyone have general troubleshooting suggestions, i.e. where to start, since I can't for the life of me think of any Google search terms that would help? Perhaps pertinent is that I made sure that "apt-get check" and "dpkg -C" returned no errors by repeatedly using "dpkg --configure" to correct them. I would appreciate any help.

It's just your Konsole windows? Have you tried other terminals? To see if it's terminal specific.

"apt-get remove --purge konsole && apt-get -u install konsole" perhaps? If it's strictly konsole based.

I personally don't have a lot of experience with KDE. I first started using Gnome. Moved to KDE almost instantly thinking it was "lighter". Then I ended up using fluxbox (which I really love) since I just couldn't stand the bloatiness of KDE. That and the fact that it never seemed to do the things I wanted it to do. When it did do them, though, it did them in a way I definitely didn't want them to be done in.

Wow, it works! I really need to read the apt-get manual. Thanks
