Hi,
Well after weeks of faild attempts of installing Debian Sarge, i finally got it installed. I love it. Altho it is a bit hard to master a few things i found simple in other distos. I even wiped out my 80GB secondary HD today and i did not even realise
Anyways, i have been having a problem for some time now when i try to compile a programe under debian. I was trying to compile a programe i downloaded and i get the folling error;
localhost:~/gift-0.11.4# ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.
localhost:~/gift-0.11.4#
I have GCC installed, I have googled half way across the know universe to find out what is wrong. Lots of diffrent people say diffrent things.
But i still dont have an answer...... Im sure it is something really easy.
I would like to get this resolved as soon as possible as Debian is the only OS in my computer. Havent touched widows for over a year now
And the other Distos bore me now as they dont offer the flexability of debian.
Thanks in advance
