brightness keys weird on debian sid thinkpad t61

hello i'm running debian unstable 2.6.23-1-amd64 on my thinkpad t61
my problem is that my brightness keys (Fn+Home/End) have gone crazy!
when i press them the brightness starts to randomly go up and down, and sometimes the brightness levels change even when i do nothing at all.

i'm running ThinkPad ACPI Extras 0.16, and hal version 0.5.10-4

any idea how to fix this? where can i get an upgraded version of thinkpad acpi extras for my 64-bit processor?

helpp!

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=117042
use the 0.18 version.

is it arch-independent?

because i run amd64 release and the website offers only i386 releases

I also found that the brightness changed randomly.
The reason is that the speed of brightness down button is twice faster than up button.
So i use the acpi handle script like this, that works for me.
X61 slackware-current 2.6.23.9 thinkpad-acpi-0.18-20071203

Code:

# Brightness button
if [ "${ACTION}" == "video" ]; then
        if [ "${PARAMETER3}" == "00000086" ]; then
                echo up > /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness
                xbacklight -inc 7
                level=$(cat /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness | grep level:)
                osd "${level}"
        fi
        if [ "${PARAMETER3}" == "00000087" ]; then
                echo down > /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness
                xbacklight -dec 3
                level=$(cat /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness | grep level:)
                osd "${level}"
        fi

I think the thinkpad acpi module also for 64 bit.
I dont know the debian way with the acpi event.
In slackware, it use the /etc/acpi/acpi_handler.sh script file to handle all acpi events.
