Booting Debian's Base through SuSE's Grub
Hey,
I wanted to give Debian a shot, so I downloaded, burned and booted the minimal installation CD. Here's a rundown on what I have on my second HDD:
/dev/hdb1 is boot for SuSE
/dev/hdb5 is root for SuSE
/dev/hdb6 I set this up as the root for the new Debian installation
/dev/hdb7 I set this up as the boot for the new Debian installation
I told Debian to setup Grub on hdb7 (or (hd1,6)). Mind you, I only installed the Base system, I still haven't downloaded and installed the entire OS. Clarification: After booting the CD I burned, setting up everything (partitioning, languages, base system, GRUB,etc.), I was directed to eject the CD and reboot. So I rebooted, but now I need to boot into this Base system I have just installed.
This is what I have set up in the SuSE Grub loader for Debian. I'm just listing the Sections, then the values I deemed neccessary:
Section Type = kernel ........ Value = (hd1,6)/vmlinuz root=/dev/hdb6 vga=0x31a splash=silent desktop resume=/dev/hdb2 showopts
Section Type = initrd ........ Value = (hd1,6)/initrd
What do I need to fix here? It says it can't find any of the stuff in kernel when I try to boot it.
I'm sorry if i'm missing info or am confusing. Tell me and i will add/clarify.
Thanks in advanced,
