bind9 init script

Hi all,
I compiled and installed Bind9.8.1-P1 on Debian 6, but it has no init script. Does anybody have one I could use? As I have never written an init script before. Alternatively, if anybody has any guides they could link me to, that would be grand. Thanks.

Hi,

You can just stick in /etc/rc.local the command you use to start bind, e.g.
Code:

/path/to/sbin/named -u named
If you want to be formal, have a look here to write a basic startup/shutdown script and use update-rc.d to create the symlinks needed

BTW since you compiled bind from source, why didn't you compile the latest bind-9.8.3-P1 for security reasons?

Regards

Thank you. I think it was because of Samba4 compatibility or something, probably. Must have been a reason.
