Automounting a USB Harddrive

Hi there,

I am currently in the midst of sorting out my knoppmyth system and have a question regarding the automounting of a usb harddrive at boot time.

I have an external USB2 harddrive on which is a lot of music. As a superuser I have editted my fstab file by adding the following line

/dev/sda1 /myth/music vfat defaults,user,auto,showexec,umask=022 0 0

Now when i boot up my system if i use a shell to browse to the mount point my files/folder are not shown. However if i either

1) use a shell as superuser to run the command 'mount -a'
2) using konqueror right click on the drive icon and select 'mount'

then the system can see all of the files and directories on my external harddrive.

This is quite annoying as at the moment before i can listen to my music i have to drop out of knoppmyth and then restart it. Is there a way of adding a command somewhere to be run during the boot sequence to ensure that i dont have to manually mount my drive before i can listen to my music.

Many thanks

Rob

You could edit the file
/etc/init.d/mountall.sh
And add vfat to the list of filesystems that should be automatically mounted.

Quote:
mount_all_local() {
mount -a -t nonfs,nfs4,smbfs,cifs,ncp,ncpfs,coda,ocfs2,gfs \
-O no_netdev
}
becomes

Quote:
mount_all_local() {
mount -a -t vfat,nonfs,nfs4,smbfs,cifs,ncp,ncpfs,coda,ocfs2,gfs \
-O no_netdev
}
