i went to the ATI support site, DLDed the driver i386, but no luck. here is the lspci output. thank you.

after installing the driver i got this

After starting X11, auto-detection will take place.

If you want to forcefully bind to a specific PCI bus slot at a later time
then you have to edit the fglrx-BusID entry in your XF86Config-4 file.

Press [Enter] to continue, press 'q'&[Enter] or [Ctrl]+'c' to abort.
