ATI 9600 Driver Install in Debian

Hi ev1! I'm somwhat of a newbie with some experience with Linux for the past year. I have a ATI 9600. As we know, getting this card working in Linux is a beeatch! Well I finally did it! With the help I found at a site called ATI Linux driver packages for Debian. http://xoomer.virgilio.it/flavio.sta...-installer.htm

IT works!! Follow the directions very carefully and exactly! I goofed 3 times before I got it right! One thing I want to add. It says don't use fglrxconfig at the end. Well that's the only way I got it to work. Other than that the instructions are priceless!

Here are my results form fglrxinfo:

debian:/home/coolbreeze# fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON 9600 Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.3.4641 (X4.3.0-3.14.6)

Here are my results from glxgears:

debian:/home/coolbreeze# glxgears
2954 frames in 5.0 seconds = 590.800 FPS
4192 frames in 5.0 seconds = 838.400 FPS
4236 frames in 5.0 seconds = 847.200 FPS
4236 frames in 5.0 seconds = 847.200 FPS
4202 frames in 5.0 seconds = 840.400 FPS
4199 frames in 5.0 seconds = 839.800 FPS
4187 frames in 5.0 seconds = 837.400 FPS
4199 frames in 5.0 seconds = 839.800 FPS
4255 frames in 5.0 seconds = 851.000 FPS

I actually get better numbers in another OS so if anyone knows how I can improve please let me know.

I'm no expert so If I can get it loaded then maybe you can too!

I'm glad to be a new linux user!

19256 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3851.200 FPS
19257 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3851.400 FPS
19255 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3851.000 FPS
18378 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3675.600 FPS
19266 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3853.200 FPS
19264 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.800 FPS
19265 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3853.000 FPS
19263 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.600 FPS
19263 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.600 FPS
19265 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3853.000 FPS
19247 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3849.400 FPS
19263 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.600 FPS
19266 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3853.200 FPS
19263 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.600 FPS
19264 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.800 FPS
19260 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.000 FPS
19266 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3853.200 FPS
19264 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3852.800 FPS
18421 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3684.200 FPS
16575 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3315.000 FPS
17887 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3577.400 FPS
19109 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3821.800 FPS
17185 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3437.000 FPS
18364 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3672.800 FPS
18840 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3768.000 FPS
18662 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3732.400 FPS
19018 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3803.600 FPS
19055 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3811.000 FPS

From what I've read this is are very good numbers. What is everyone else with this card getting?

Did anyone write down the instructions? The site is no longer there or is in Italian.
