aren't there install cd images for Debian Testing (Squeeze)?

I've been happily running Debian Lenny. but I've taken a look at KDE4.3 and it looks good now. I'm familiar with running testing as that's how I started with Lenny. But when I look on Debian's download pages I find no cd images for Squeeze. Are they not ready yet?

And before anyone chimes in about Ubuntu or Kubuntu or any other distro, been there done that. Don't like it. My Choice. I'll stick with debian.

For the time being I'm loading a minimal install from my Lenny 5.03 cd, repointing my repositories to testing and loading everything from there. Clean and slick yes. But I have to pick out my entire base system. At least KDE was loaded full in lenny. I can do it for now if need be but would like an install cd to get started as I have 4 computers to set up and need to apt-move my new system to cd's to set them up.

It would appear that currently they are not available.
You could try the preferred netinstall disc for Testing:

Thanks for the info but I already have that. It just points back to the Lenny installer. Which I'm fine installing the way I am now. Just using the kde cd1 and installing a base install and going from there. It just takes me longer but this way I only load what I want.

Kubuntu 9.10 worked ok. It didn't bog down like past versions. And it was good to see how kde4 works. But it had to much crap rolled up in it and I am still turned off from Ubuntu's sudo setup. i'm old school and prefer a proper root setup. That's why I've stayed with Debian. And the Squeeze setup is looking pretty nice. Just disappointed that some of my old progs are gone. Still miss xmms when they dropped it before lenny and now grip is gone.

Erm,no.
That link points to the daily built netinstall cd images for Testing, look again:

Uhm, yes. that first link you sent points to the LENNY installer. The second link points to the daily build. Not much help though. I did get it installed and wasn't satisfied. There are too many issues I have that keep me from moving to it. The base system is fine but configuring anything multimedia is a pain. And there are too many programs that I use in Lenny that are missing (for now) in Squeeze.

The second link i gave you is a result of clicking i386 in the first link!!.
And yes there is a link to the Lenny page, but look below that you have the daily build options.

How so?.
Do you use the Debian Multimedia repository?.

Such as?.

Cage47 11-07-2009 03:33 PM

You really want me to go into it?

Yes I used multimedia.

Well kscd looks like crap. And there is no way to get it to point to a specific cd-rom (like if you have your audio cable on cdrom2)

Getting the dvd info loaded so you can play dvd's is not complete. In lenny it only required installing a couple files. In Squeeze even after loading those files it doesn't work.

grip is no longer included. neither is kaudiocreator and there isn't another way to rip cd's.

That's just a short list. I'm resetting my 5.03 box so I'm off.

On forums.debian I enquired about the same thing--that there are no images on Debian's weekly build page. Someone there pointed me at Debian Mailing Lists index for Developers, where I found this correspondence:

Quote:

Many of the debian-installer builds were failing around the time of the
last weekly build, which presumably means many of the weekly CD/DVD
builds failed.

Debian installer seems to be OK again now so I'd expect the next weekly
CD build to succeed.

Ian.
