apt, Hash Sum mismatch


I get this error:
Code:
W: Failed to fetch xz:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/ftp.at.debian.org_debian_dists_unstable_main_binary-amd64_Packages  Hash Sum mismatch

W: Failed to fetch xz:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/ftp.at.debian.org_debian_dists_unstable_main_binary-i386_Packages  Hash Sum mismatch

W: Failed to fetch bzip2:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/ftp.at.debian.org_debian_dists_unstable_main_i18n_Translation-en  Hash Sum mismatch

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Did you do an apt update before this?

thats what I'm trying to do. anyway, google searching indicates its a proxy problem.

Yes, I had that problem for a while. Here's the solution that worked for me.
Run the following commands as root or using sudo:
Code:
apt-get clean
rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/*
apt-get clean
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
This is more of an annoyance than a real problem. If the problem recurs then just run the commands again.

I've solved it in meantime by switching to another mirror, will use your solution next time.
