Apt-get new kernel

Going to upgrade my kernel and I'm planning on taking the easy way out and instead of compiling it I'm going to use apt-get and use a premade one.

My question is which of the kernel images do I use for an Athlon T-Bird? I'm planning on the 2.6.5-1 kernel-image but do I use the k7 one even if its not a k7 processor? I read somewhere to use that one on Athlon cpus as its been tweaked for AMD cpus? Or do I go for the 686 one?

Thanks

Re: Apt-get new kernel

AMD Athlon belongs to the K7 family, so 2.6.5-1-k7 should be just fine.

Btw 'apt-cache show <package name>' is a useful command that shows description of a specific debian package, so apt-cache show kernel-image-2.6.5-1-k7 would also have told you the information you need.
