Can anyone tell me what this error means?

dpkg: error processing j2re1.4 (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2

Thanks, Olias

Never use it but set it up using this page for my niece and nephew's machines it worked perfectly you may want to consider apt-get --purge remove j2re1.4 for the package you installed. There are a couple of obvious typos on the page so keep a look out for them if you use it. Note you may have to use dpkg --purge --force-remove-reinstreq j2re1.4 if apt complains about the error and having to fix it before doing anything.

Code:
$ mkdir -p /usr/lib/mozilla-cvs/plugins && apt-get -f install
should have you up & running.
However I'd suggest to install 'java-package', grab j2re bin distribution from sun's java page, `man make-jpkg` and make yourself nice a j2re deb package to install w/ dpkg.
Actually, it's easier than it seems & works like a charm.

Here's another excellent HOWTO for setting up Java in Debian. It's easy to follow and worked perfectly in my computer.

WOW, so much help from ppl in the know. I'm not used to this... it's great.

I still use Gentoo on my PC but the debian I installed in on my Son's computer is sweet. Gentoo is great but I find it takes so long to set up. I'll report back once I get a handle on this for my Son.

Thanks again, Olias
