apt-get dist-upgrade problem (havnt done it in a while...)

I havn't apt-get upgrade and dist-upgraded in a while. So, I needed to upgrade tons of packages.

I did this:
dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/packagename_i386.deb then dpkg --configure -a and then chose default which is n or o.
This almost solved the problem.

Then:

apt-get install gimp-perl
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
gimp-perl
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/328kB of archives.
After unpacking 1200kB of additional disk space will be used.
Selecting previously deselected package gimp-perl.
(Reading database ... 74595 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking gimp-perl (from .../gimp-perl_2.0-4_i386.deb) ...
Setting up gimp-perl (2.0-4) ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/gimp-perl.postinst: line 27: /usr/bin/gimptool-2.0: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing gimp-perl (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
gimp-perl
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

How do I install gimp-perl without this big mess??
Thnks
