Any debian tool to help download missing dependencies when compiling from source?

When using the command 'dpkg-buildpackage' to compile and build from source files, often there are missing dependencies. Is there a package or command option that will automatically download the missing dependencies from debian depositories as specified in the /etc/apt/sources.list file?

Thanks !

I think the command is apt-file.
