another (different) apt-get.org backport question

I just read in another thread about installing kde and/or gnome via the backports to woody. I just installed gnome2.2 today (from the deb site listed on the site which matches what was suggested in a previous thread in this form) and I got everything upgraded ok, no errors, but when I choose gnome from gdm at login time I still get 1.4. Does anyone know what else I need to do to get gnome 2.2 to fire up, maybe tell gdm about the gnome 2.2 stuff?

Thanks,
Nate

Hi,

i don't use gnome, so it's just a thought about it, but did you remove the old 1.4 packages ?

Hi,

you also can build a file called ~/.xsession

each line is a program that should be started after the user logged in.

so you can start gnome 2.2 by using this file
