AMD x86-64 version of Debian?

Is there a version of debian optimized for the AMD Athlon 64 bit processor, that has the sarge distribution? I'd like to dual boot on a laptop with an Athlon 64 3400+

hopefully (most likely) there will be an x86-64 port of debian when sarge becomes the new stable.. check out the Debian AMD64 site on alioth, going to the Project Home Page you can find a debian-installer.. not sure how well it works -- your better off waiting for it to make it to stable

Still run?

Will Debian Sarge x86 still run on an AMD Athlon 64 3400+? Windows will but it won't be optimized for 64 bit. Is debian the same in that respect?

You're very helpful

thank you for your help. I'll install the x86 version and then upgrade to the AMD64 version(if that's possible) when it's available.
