ALSA not recording Audigy2
Hello,
I have debian unstable (kernel 2.6.16-18) with an Audigy 2 SB. I have buildin the alsa drivers, and I can hear fine. But I cannot record, which I founded lately when I wanted to use skype. I speak to mic and I can hear myself from the headphones but cannot record it. I tried with audacity and recorder silence. I have checked alsamixer, and the permissions of /dev/dsp. How can I find out the problem? Any hint where/what to look? Is it a bad idea to compile build in the ALSA? thanks in advance. |
well basically it is a bad idea to compile alsa not as modules for some reason.
once i couldn't synth to work until i redid as modules. not to say that this is your problem. alsa calls recording "capture" i bet you knew that aready. try the command "amixer" to look at al the posible settings then learn to use amixer from the command line to manipulate settings. something like amixer set Capture 15 cap might help along with turning Mic capture on |
solved
for who it may concern
Ok I downloaded the 2.6.18 and compiles alsa as module. Now Skype sees the alsa driver and works ok. |
