ALSA lib problem - can't open sequencer

I get this message whenever I try to play any games using the ScummVM emulator (like beneath a steel sky or Flight of the Amazon Queen)

ALSA lib seq_hw.c:446snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
Can't open sequencer!

and then nothing happens.

The program worked fine before I configured my sound card (except for the fact that it had no sound). Any ideas on how to fix this?

Looks like it can not fid the device /dev/snd/seq.

Make sure that you have alsa installed and running; and that the username which you are running the game as has access to the device. If you are not using alsa and OSS instead, you can use the alsa-oss package
