Acer AS 1410 (Netbook). Error during install. ATL1C
Hi. Recently i bought a Acer Spire 1410 (11.2'') netbook.
Im trying to install debian but there is no way.
1st. I download unetbootin and put in a SD the debian squeeze net install_x64.
When i boot to the install of debian, i have a installation error (no network cards detected), he installer let me choose a possible driver, but when i select atl1e doesnt happen.
I know that atl1e its the right driver because with a opensuse live i do lspci and says atl1e Ethernet controller: Attansic Technology Corp. i tried copy the driver from suse to the SD card with the debian install and select "another driver" but doesnt work to.
Any idea? i really want debian in my laptop not suse

During the install, when it fails, go to a terminal (CTRL+ALT+F2). Then modprobe atl1e. If it loads, do the network discovery again. But I'm betting there is some reason why the module isn't loading. You'll be able to get some info. You might also try the weekly build testing CD-1 for the install. To get back to the install screen I think (CTRL+ALT+F5).
danesco I have the same Acer when I ran lsmod I saw a module atl1c instead of atl1e. I attached the output of lspci, lsmod and lshw I am using Ubuntu 9.10 if that helps.
Well, i tried the modprobe atl1e. I think that loads because there is no error, but the installer does not work yet, get me to the list of ethernet cards to select.
Hey, thats true, its the atl1c, the installer haves atl1e and atl1, but how i can take it from suse and put it to load from the SD card? or, why the installer does not detect to the wireless, its weird hardware of this laptop?
Update: just looking for "atl1c debian" it looks that cause a lot of problems, system crash when unplug, patches needed. Hmm bad luck for this model.
Well, Mandriva runs well to in this netbook, but i really dont like rpm heh.
Any idea to put the atl1c driver in the install sd? or i will need to wait for someday to be include by default.
