A proper way to config Xorg to use TFT ?

I have a Benq-fp93G and as VGA card I use :
VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. VT8375 [ProSavage8 KM266/KL266]

The recommended resolution is 1280x1024@70.
I used xvidtune to get the the required refresh rate, the the monitor still behaves strangely,
this meaning that it flickers.

I asked myself if the problem might be from the monitor itself, but on windowsXP i wasn't
able to reproduce the problem.

So if anyone out there, had a simmilar problem, i would be more than glad to hear it.
