A fatal error has been detected in update-manager.
My system is debian unstable (sid) Gnome. I did aptitude safe-upgrade last night. After the upgrade, gnome-update-manager stopped working and gives me the subject message. Any idea on how to get it back working?
I googled this issue and got this: http://www.google.com/linux?hl=ar&q=...8%AD%D8%AB&lr= but none of the sites listed in the above link has a solution. |
None has a soluton? Bug 578332 was merged with bug 574187 which was marked fixed today. Try aptitude update then aptitude upgrade.

Thanks. It is back working now.

Well, I did the same and I still get the error message. I use Synaptic to do my Squeeze updates. Still, I wish the normal 'UpDate Manager' would work.
Can't say I'm missing much. Still... I'm certain it'll be taken care of sooner or later. |
Do you have update-manager-core_0.200.3-2_all installed?

It is fixed in Squeeze.

update-manager-core_0.200.3-2_all... No, it's not available in Squeeze through Synaptic.
And I'm still have the error message. I guess I'll just wait for Debian to fix it. After all, I can still update/upgrade. |
yes it is. did you apt-get update? wait a day if you still can't see it
|
I see it! Just did an update/upgrade. Now it's working.

I am facing the same issue again. However, although it says "A fatal error has been detected in update-manager", I noticed that the update manager is working in the background.
