432 can't open /dev/console
I am using the debian-31r2-i386-netinst installation CD on my AMD64 with SATA HD. I am installing the file system to a USB hard drive, not the SATA. It recongnizes the SATA HD anyhow.
The installation CD works without any errors. I set country, language, etc with no problems. It configured DHCP no problems. I setup the USB HD scsi5 (0,0,0) with a root and swap partition. I installed grub to a floppy, no errors reported. After rebooting the computer with the grub floppy installed I get the following error: 432 can't open /dev/console I tried a number of boot options including root=/dev/sdb1 ro, etc. I can't seem to mount the usb drive under knoppix to see if there is an entry in /dev for the console. I have a microsoft wireless keyboard, connected to the ps/2 ports, not the usb ports and I am wondering if that is the problem?? I can't remember the rest of the boot information if there is a way to log it to a floppy let me know and I will do it. Bill |
I was able to get it to work using the 2.6.2 Kernel option.
However I am having trouble with my keyboard, it is a Microsoft wireless comfort keyboard 1.0A. I am getting errors saying scan codes are not recongized. Any Ideas? Bill |
