'Debian' Submenu Disappeared

Since my weekly dist-upgrade this morning, I no longer have the Debian menu on my system ... Often seems like an unnecessary duplication, but quite often on application installs, I've noticed that icons wound up only in there, and not on any of the other menus. This is only on my AMD64 set-up. It's still there on the 32-bit.

Guess I can live without it, but I hope it comes back next week.

Make sure menu-xdg is installed and run update-menus

That didn't bring it back immediately ... Maybe when I reboot.

Later: When I restarted X after update-menus, the Debian Menu was back. Menu-xdg was installed all the time. Since I hadn't restarted X after my dist-upgrade, I wonder if it wasn't just a temporary glitch related to the upgrade that would have been solve by simply restarting X. I think I'll make restarting X a final step in my regular dist-upgrade procedure.
