No Sound when running DSL with Dell XPi P133st

Tried running a wave sound and mp3 file for testing but player reported can't open audio. How do I configer for sound?

The audio is an ES1888. Is there an OSS driver to make this work (works ok in WIN)
If so what is the driver how do I download and set it up. I'm a complete newbie. Thanks
