Linux newbie trouble with DSL video and maybe another question
I am attempting to learn DSL off CD. I am booting a Dell Optiplex GX270. This computer came with a Dell 17 lcd. DSL does not like the video setup with this computer. So i am trying to figure out how to configure the video properly??? The only video it likes to use is 640x480. That is way to big. I boot using dsl=vga=normal, but I still can not seen to figure out the proper config. I have tried 800x600w 32 bit color, 24 bit, 16 bit, 1024x768 (off mem, so I might not be perfectly accurate with my numbers)with 32,24,16 bit color. No success (ie it bboots the colors are off and I don't see any icons) When I go into xvesa from the desktop it only offers 640x480, I don't remember the bit count. It sure would be nice to be able to configure this properly. When I boot using dsl vga=normal, it defaults to 1024x768 32 bit, but it does not properly display the desktop etc. Thanks for your time
I want to use firefox on the web with the java plugin. Can you help me configure firefox to use jave when I start it?? Thanks for your time and knowledge |
if you know the model number, you could google for the specs,or post them here and someone could find them.what you need are the horizontal and vertical frequencies so it dosen't get overdriven.
