Installing individual OpenOffice apps without installing the entire suite?
 

Using Damn Small Linux, how would someone install individual OpenOffice apps without installing the entire OpenOffice suite?

I keep OpenOffice in the "Optional" MyDSL folder on my frugal install. It's frustrating that when I need to open a spreadsheet, or a database, or a word document, I have to install the entire suite when all I need is one particular app.

I read on another forum that you don't have to install the entire suite just to use one of the apps, but is there a way to do it using the MyDSL system on a frugal install?

I don't know what kind of repositories DSL uses, but Debian, and I'm sure other distros, have each component stored separately. To install any one will require a large "OO-common" base file, so I'm not sure how much you will gain, but it's sure to be something.

DSL used its own package format (.dsl) but can also install DEB packages, and its supposed to be easy to convert a DEB into a .dsl package.

I'll experiment this weekend to see what I come up with.

According to the FAQs at www.openoffice.org, it isn't possible to install one app without installing everything. I'm still gonna try though.

When I uncompressed the DEB, there are a whole bunch of "core" DEBS to install. Anybody have any advice on which DEBS must be installed and which one can just be optional?
