How to get wireless PC card to work with DSL

I successfully created a live CD of DSL which seems to be the only distro that runs on my old, slow Compaq laptop. I'm not making much headway with the interface, commands, etc. I have a Netgear WG511 PC card that I would like to configure to work with DSL but I'm not sure what I'm doing.

DSL>System>NetSetup>wlcardconfig> takes me to what looks like the setup for my PC card, but nothing I do there activates my PC card. When it's working I see the green and amber activity lights blinking and of course I can surf.

Is there any way to get my wireless card to work under DSL? I am a total newbie, so if you suggest putting in commands in the terminal, please be specific and give simple, detailed instuctions.

Thanks,
Relztrah

Not an expert on DSL, but for directions, find out what chipset the wireless card is using, and see if there is driver support for this chipset included in your DSL. It may not. You might be able to add it to your CD, but this is expert work.

My proposal, take the Laptop to an Install Fest of your local Linux User Group or try to find a local resident Linux expert and bribe him with a beer or $20 to help you out ;-)

Sounds like a great idea! So far everybody on this forum has been very helpful but some in-person coaching would go a long way for me.
