Unhappy Help booting USB flash drive with DSLinux

I'm having trouble getting my SanDisk Cruzer Micro 256MB USB Flash Drive to boot DSLinux 2.1b (dsl-2.1b.iso). I've followed this tutorial:
http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/...10/grub_intro/

When I boot, all I get are the letters "GRUB" in white on the top right hand corner of my black screen and the computer freezes there. I've tried this on at least 2 different computers (desktop & laptop) without any luck. But I also downloaded the bootfloppy.img file and imaged that to a floppy and I can boot with the floppy to use the files off the USB flash drive so I know it's something wrong with Grub on the flash drive's boot sector.

Any suggestions?

my experience was downloading the iso.

burning it to disk

rebooting from the cd

then selecting and option to copy to usb-hd (not zip)

for me this worked.

what did you do?

I've tried that way too and I've come to the conclusion that this particular USB Flash Drive just might not be bootable. I've read that not all are and mine could easily fall into that category.

I hope this is information helps someone else when searching for a USB Flash Drive to boot linux. This is one _NOT_ to get!

BTW: thanks for the help.

i would recommend trying it on some other machines before comming to that conclusion.

some bioses just dont work with usb-hdd booting, even though there is a an option in the bios set up....
