automatically boot in X

I did a hd-install of Damn Small Linux. My runlevel in inittab is 5, but when the computer boots, I first need to login and then run startx. How come there is no X login screen?

well, as "root", you need to setup the kdm/gdm login manager........

As far as I remember there isnt a login manager. It usually just auto logs you in as dsl into fluxbox.

Indeed, as user dsl, you log in into fluxbox.
But I'm setting up this computer for someone who doesn't know a lot about computers, and only used Windows until now.
So I want to make everything as easy as possible and created an extra user with as username her name.

Ok, I understand what you are saying. I am not sure how this is done. DSL is different in that it is mainly designed for a live cd or frugal install. In this way many things are designed to be run as user 'dsl' specifically. Have you tried poking around the dsl message boards at damnsmalllinux.org?
