Installing Centos 6.3 on disk contains windows 7

Hello,

I have a 30 GB free space on my disk.
When I tried to install CENTOS 5.5(32) on this space, it worked fine.

The installation installed grub and upon completion and restart I could choose Centos or Windows.

I had to upgrade to Centos 6.3 (64)
Upon completion, the windows option in grub did not work.
I had to fix the MBR using a startup recovery CD.

In Centos 7.0(64), I did not find an option to install Centos on a free space.

Can you help ?

Best regards,
Z.V

you are aware that
Centos 6.3
Centos 6.4
Centos 6.5
Centos 6.6

are all UNSUPPORTED

please stay current and use CentOS 6.7 -- 6.8 will be released soon

Centos 5.5
Centos 5.6
Centos 5.7
Centos 5.8
Centos 5.9
Centos 5.10

are all unsupported
the current in the old LEGACY support is CentOS 5.11

also In Centos 7.0 is UNSUPPORTED
the current and only supported version is 7.1

Help with what? Install Centos 7?
How much space do you have left over?
Can you show us the screen where the error occurs?

As JohnVV says, use an up to date version.

Hello,

In centos 7.0 I did not see an option to install it on an unallocated partition or to erase existing Linux installations.

I had this option in Centos 5.5

In Centos 6.3 there is such option but pressing "Other" in the grub menu does not boot windows.

I had to run "bootrec /FixMbr" to fix the MBR and boot windows.

Regards,
Z.V

Why are you ting to install 3 UNSUPPORTED OLD versions of Cent ?????

use the current versions
but WHY all 3 ?
CentOS 5.11
CentOS 6.7
CentOS 7.1

the option is there in cent 7 , did you set up the manuall layout ?
and DID you READ the centOS 7.1 install guide ???
https://access.redhat.com/documentat...ide/index.html

did you clear space for 7.1 ?

also it is better to let Windows have the MBR ( then no need to run "FixMbr" or reinstall grub when windows replaces it) and install grub on the first LINUX partition

The screens shown here seem to have this option though: https://access.redhat.com/documentat...setup-x86.html.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

I installed Centos 6.3 (64)
Upon completion I had to manually fix the relevant line in /boot/grub/menu.lst to

rootnoverify (hd0,0)
