FreeBSD Default ftpd not showing error if over quota

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi,

I use the default ftpd binary and have the following problem.
When a user is over quota, ftpd is says nothing and just creates a 0 byte file.

Is there any way to have ftpd say something is a user tries to upload a file while the user is over quota??

If not, does someone know a good and secure alternative solution (ftp server)?

Thanks!
Onno.

You could try running the server from within a jail.

I think he's asking how to make ftpd chattier about over-quota situations.

@RattleSn@ke: I don't know off the top of my head, and I don't have time right now to set up a test scenario for tinkering. My suggestion would be to give the ftp/vsftpd port a try to see if it's providing better "quota feedback". That may or may not be addressing the root cause...
