burning cd's

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I installed k3b successfully through the pkg_add command but it never recognized my cd burner.
In Slack it was quite simple as I compiled k3b from src and installed. Now it works as well or better than Nero in XP.

My questions are

-Once K3b is installed how does one make it "see" the burner?
[hp cd12 series]

-Is there a download for K3b that will compile on Freebsd That I can save to a disk in case there is a time where I am without internet and I want install K3b on BSD?

-I tried to install the source file k3b-0.11.17.tar.bz2 exactly as i did on Slackware but that did not work.Is k3b-0.11.17.tar.bz2 compileable on Freebsd and if so How?

A lot of questions-I appreciate any responses.

To compile from source in FreeBSD, change to /usr/ports/sysutils/k3b and do make install clean.

In answer to the seeing the burner question, I suggest you read pkg-message in the aforementioned directory, it has a step by step guide.
