bodhi on gateway laptop no display


just installed bodhi on my gateway laptop but during the instal i had to use a monitor, (i have to no matter which distro i install).
but after the install i still have to use the monitor as i no display on the laptop screen, (usually once a distro is installed i can unplug the monitor)
any help appreciated

I have the same issue with my HP laptop, with all distros. The video is there but the brightness is turned down. I don't know if it is related to crappy BIOS, poor acpi implementation, or the Intel video in the i5 processor. The kernel options

acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor
Fixes it for me.

do i need to be su for the command if so is the password the same as my account password?
if i type this in as user nothing happens
but my laptop is amd not intel, if that makes a difference

I guess I should have been more specific. Boot parameters are added to the linux boot line in Grub. Look here for guidance:

still no graphics on laptop

just typed xbacklight inc 40 and terminal said abacklight not installed
so installed xbacklight and in terminal get this

then someone told me this

Those gtk warnings are harmless. You can ignore them.

As for the dialog, when you go to Settings > SettingsPanel you will see the left dialog. Click in the top bar on the tab Screen and select ScreenSetup. Clicking will open the other dialog. In the screenie there is only one monitor connected, you should have more to choose from.


but i only get one monitor in the settings
