In the beginning.

Ahh..

It has been a rough year.
Firstly, I decided I wanted to be serious about programming again. I had just missed computers so much while being a mechanical apprentice. Problem was, I had 10 yrs of Visual Basics experience and nothing else.

Secondly, I found I used my computer in pretty defined ways:
  1. For watching/reading my Manga and Anime collection (which is in many different formats)
  2. For aquiring/distributing my Manga and Anime collection (which is huge.. ^^;;)
  3. Doing assignments (word... must... die...)
  4. Programming in all the languages I was trying to learn (Java, C++, Fortran(!), PHP etc)
  5. Web browsing.

Thirdly, windows was giving me the sh!ts. I hated ME, loathed 95, lost hair over XP but was mildly adoring of 2k. (ah, my sweet 2K)

But it was getting too hard to get good programs (or ANY programs) that did what I wanted and that I could afford. So, after a heart breaking (except about Word, DIE MO-FO!) month of indecision, I downloaded slackware.

AND SO THE TALE BEGINS.
