You know you are a complete Linux nutter when... ( & Google/Wikipedia elinks search scripts )

Posted 09-28-2010 at 07:56 AM by William (Dthdealer)

You have one computer on the left. A second older computer sits to your right, sshed into the first.

You play a game fullscreen on the first, while running scanmem on the other. Who ever needed multiple monitor outputs?

I only realised what I was doing when I took a few steps back. Anyone passing by would probably think I'm cracking into someone's computer whilst playing some MineCraft.

+1 multitasking

While I'm here, here are two useful scripts I wrote a couple of days ago for console goers. Nothing big, but definitely useful.

bin/wiki
Code:
#!/bin/sh

#
# Opens up elinks at a desired wiki page
#

if [ $# -eq 0 ]
then
    # Just open wikipedia up
    elinks http://en.wikipedia.org/
else
    # Search up passed args
    elinks "http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&search=$*"
fi
bin/google
Code:
#!/bin/sh

#
# Opens up elinks at a desired google search
#

if [ $# -eq 0 ]
then
    # Just open google up
    elinks http://www.google.com.au/
else
    # Search up passed args
    elinks "http://www.google.com.au/search?q=$*"
