Interesting Parts of the Windows 7 EULA

I like to read the Windows 7 EULA, it it hilariously bad for the user in nearly every way, and yet I remain unaffected. It is the same sort of feeling you get when you see signs offering antivirus subscription for only a set period of time and for hundreds of dollars, safe with the thought you will never need such software.

For accuracy reasons, I'm using the Windows 7 Ultimate N English PDF available through the Microsoft website. Also, EULA = End User Licence Agreement

Australian Government 'E-Tax' software

My brother had rung up a few minutes ago, wanting to know if any computers in our house ran Windows. He is a Mac user, and was unsure about our operating systems knowing we all use Ubuntu.

I replied by saying I had not removed Windows from any of our computers, but instead have the two operating systems parallel in a 'dual-boot' setup, where I can choose which I want when I start the computer.

Windows 7 'losing' your background.

Recently I had to use a Windows 7 box. After using vista before my first action of course was to change the aero theme back to the good old rectangles of classic.

Soon however I came across an annoyance. Fancy that, coming across an annoyance in Windows within minutes of using it. Insert more sarcastic remarks relating to rare cosmic events here.

I have a beautiful tiling image in PNG format as my background. It seems the people in the Microsoft testing department only...

Desktop environment and window managers application menus are pathetic

When I used to use a Windows machine, I became sick of its menu system. It takes several clicks to get to the 'all programs' menu and applications spam it with entries when they are installed. On the other hand it was easy to organise the contents of the menus, as they were just the contents of the "/Document and Settings/Username/Start Menu" and Allusers directories.

Soon however I started using blackbox ( BB4win ), and the Windows menus became even less attractive. ...
