Vonets mini 300 wifi bridge/repeater - part 3

Posted 08-14-2015 at 03:11 PM by WestCoastSunset

Well, after having used this device for a couple of months, I have discontinued using it. I have come to discover that using a wifi bridge with a cordless phone so I can use my magic jack was not working out too well. There was an annoying buzzing on the line when using the repeater that is not present when plugging the magic jack directly into the router. As of right now I have my magic jack plugged directly into the router. The cordless phone I have been using is the cheap vtech dect 6 from Walmart. It seems to work alright, and I don't have to worry about having a plethora of extra equipment on a table somewhere. I just grab the cordless and keep it upstairs (router is in the basement). Voice quality is better. I found out that wifi and dect 6 in close proximity to each other may not work out so well, but I do have it very near my laptop (lenovo t410) and that doesn't seem to cause much interference.

In any event, avoid this device, It also seemed to cause interference with wifi but that was when I had the SSID the same as my router, by default, when you connect to your router when configuring the repeater, it adds something to the end of the SSID so it is different. My sister, who has a newer Lenovo (I think its a T series, but I forget the model #) seemed to experience web slowdowns, but she only uses facebook and that may be a problem with facebook. I never seemed to have a problem.
