Windows 7: Did you know it's actual version?

Posted 10-15-2010 at 11:25 AM by Web31337

I was always wondering why don't I see any user-agent containing "Windows NT 7.0" or something on my sites.
Today, I've got a final answer
Occasionally, my friend brought home a laptop with windows 7. He was asked by his friend to configure it, install software, etc. I asked him to navigate to my website so I can view the user-agent from opera he just installed. It was "NT 6.1"! WTF? Really? I remembered that there is a way to view the actual version by calling "cmd.exe" or "winver.exe"... both of them show "version 6.1 (build 7600)".

IIRC, 6.1 appeared when windows server 2008 released.
Perhaps, someone must have slept at math classes at school...
