My experience with NetGear WNR3500L

Posted 11-08-2010 at 11:43 AM by Web31337

Today I've finally make it to reflashing, I was quite busy these days. So, armed with manuals over the net I started the process by uploading .chk of dd-wrt, in order to then upload .bin (renamed .trx) of tomato-usb.
My first mistake was when I uploaded dd-wrt. Actually, that was sorta minimal build, not so fresh also, I am not exactly sure what went wrong but I started to tweak it instead of moving right ahead with uploading tomatousb. When I applied some settings and rebooted it no longer was available I freaked out a bit, but then I tried a "hard reset", also know as 30/30/30, described in dd-wrt wiki. It helped. Then my next mistake was I needed to reset settings when uploading tomatousb, default is "don't reset". I didn't notice that and uploaded tomatousb. Well, it went good, but for some reason I was unable to use USB. I rolled it back to default firmware from netgear, then repeated everything in the right way and it worked. Now, I inserted a small usb drive of 1GB, formatted as ext2 in order to use it as an optware storage.

Here is how it looks like:
