Toribash - how do You move Your muscles when kicking?

Posted 08-01-2008 at 02:13 PM by Vermind

I was recently introduced to Toribash, a turn-based fighting game, where there are literally no moves. What You want the fighter to do, You specify muscle by muscle: raise shoulder - contract pecs - lower shoulder to execute a simple raising of arm and then hitting down with it. Don't even think about kicking or jumping before you have watched a tutorial or two on it. The game is played in rooms of people, of which two are in the ring fighting with fists or swords, jousting, or another kind of fight....

Focus problems on 64-bit version of aMSN

Posted 08-01-2008 at 02:06 PM by Vermind

aMSN, the most full-featured msn clone for Linux, runs well on my 32-bit Ubuntu. But on the 64-bit one, every log message, such as "contact has joined conversation", and a new message by a contact causes aMSN to lose focus. I need then to go out of the conversation window, and come back in order to be able to type. This occurs regardless of my window manager; occurs on both metacity and compiz. UFO: Alien Invasion

Posted 08-01-2008 at 02:03 PM by Vermind

UFO: Alien Invasion brings the world map back to the game: it is an open-source remake of the original UFO, in Quake 2 - engine powered 3D, with a new alien agenda and lots of more realism. The game seems to have an impressive amount of depth...

Skype Pidgin Plugin

Posted 08-01-2008 at 01:57 PM by Vermind

As some might know,
there is a plugin to use a running Skype instance through Pidgin. Unfortunately using Skype through Pidgin on my Ubuntu 8.04 causes Pidgin to crash sometimes, with a
pidgin: ../../src/xcb_lock.c:77: _XGetXCBBuffer: Assertion `((int) ((xcb_req) - (dpy->request)) >= 0)' failed.
Bug entry here.
I read that this could be worked around with the
environment variable, but the same issue still occurred even with it.
