Posted 08-02-2008 at 01:42 AM by tithira

hi guys
I have found some interesting way to get hardware measurements from BIOS .Linux users you can just download package from your system updates or just visit here

1. When you are done with installing lm-sensors just type
Code:
 su -
    (your password)
    sensors-detect
this will do the many of things. just proceed with its default answer if you don't what to do ,else just answer to the question as you want.If sensors-detect not works then try typing following in command line.
Code:
   cd /tmp
wget "http://www.lm-sensors.org/browser/lm-sensors/trunk/prog/detect/sensors-detect?format=txt"
   perl "sensors-detect?format=txt"
this will do the trick.

2.Then type sensors
if you see a window like below then you are done.

Code:
Adapter: ISA adapter
Case Fan: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 32)
CPU Fan: 1670 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 4)
Aux Fan: 1418 RPM (min = 4272 RPM, div = 4)
3.Make sure that you have enabled your lm-sensors service in your system.

4. If you want to add a widget or icon in your title or task bar in you desktop environment as gui tool you have options too.
a)if you are using GNOME environment just login as root in terminal and just type the following
