A script is born

Posted 10-07-2011 at 12:00 PM by Thor_2.0

So...as noted in a previous post, all stuff can be automated...by a Bash script.

Wow, never did that before...so my first one is ... totally out of style? I know. Yes, it is, I admit

So far, it preps the disk, sets up networking, downloads and installs ... one package, but it's a proof of concept...

Next, I need to make it a bit more "pretty" and add the packages in there, and in the right order. This means hunting down the depencencies, and doing an install in the right order...

As someone on this blog noted:

a lot of trial and error...

But at least I can automate stuff...and have time to mow the lawn...

You know what's even more awesome script automation? using an HD Home Run and automating DVR recordings with just bash. No Myth TV involved.

Ehrm...possibly...but all I want to learn is 'what goes into the box"...just what are all the packages involved in making a Linux installation.

But...watching TV is nice too...if you've got the time...

    ...I still dont get it...
