Run your Slackware 64 bit system with the latest stable kernel – 3.14.5!

I have compiled a very useful (as I think) 64 bit kernel for Slackware 12.0 – 14.1 and/or all Slackware derivatives. For example Slax, Zenwalk, SlackEX and Exton|Defender. The kernel is compiled exactly the same way as Slackware’s latest kernel huge. “My” kernel 3.14.5-exton has even more support for new hardware, etc. Kernel 3.14.5 is the latest stable kernel available from Kernel.org. Released (20140531).

Kernel 3.15.0-0-exton

I have compiled yet another Ubuntu/Debian kernel for 64 bit systems. This time kernel 3.15.0-0-exton, equivalent to Kernel.org’s latest kernel 3.15.0-rc4, released yesterday (140505).

The DebEX Barebone ISO is now a ISO-hybrid, which means that it can very easily be transferred to a USB pen drive. You can then even run DebEX Barebone from the USB stick and save all your system changes on the stick. I.e. you will enjoy persistence! Read this INSTRUCTION. NetworkManager has been removed. It doesn’t go together with Wicd when it comes to configuring wireless networks. I’ve added the applications GParted (partition editor), AbiWord, Icedove (Thunderbird) and AlsaPlayer....
