debian lenny - STABLE bug.

Posted 07-21-2010 at 12:21 PM by Web31337 (In The Middle Of Nowhere [edK's blog])

Im now wondering what's on that DVD disc, some space looks to be non-empty but mounted disc is empty. Quest for future. Luckily, the data wasn't that way important so that's why I didn't check it, in oppose to other discs I've written that day.

1. nautilus (recently i used that, it was a simpliest way)
2. xfburn (i use xfce)
3. brasero.
All of them either hang or fall when I add too many files. Well, what the heck if I don't have any other choice? I need all of those files.
I was beginning to think about frontend to "genisoimage"... say, a GTK app, allowing to create an...

Victims of Their Own Success?

Posted 02-08-2010 at 07:32 PM by dixiedancer (A Simple Kid's Opinion)

But not uncommonly, I hear them complaining that too many Linux users rely on the graphical interface and don't bother to learn the command line. It's kind of ironic, dontchya think? You wanted to make Linux easy enough for the non-geeky...

Thoughts about the command line

Posted 03-29-2009 at 03:36 AM by bitpicker (Bitpicker's Blog: Random musings and rants)

The following started out as a comment to this blog entry by Carla Schroder on linuxtoday.com. But it quickly became too long so I decided to simply post it here.

Any interface is a metaphor for what you're really doing: shifting zeroes and ones around. Absolutely everything you ever do on the computer is just a metaphor, whether it's using a GUI, the CLI or even programming.

And like language metaphors, different metaphors are useful in different contexts and apply...
