Posted 03-25-2015 at 06:35 AM by jheengut

Last week I installed the Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution for the first time and unlike Fedora it felt smoother than a breeze.

The installation GUI is polished as an Enterprise grade toolkit. The general installation procedures were trivial but when a step regarding the Red Hat Subscription Management this needed to be skipped.

There was a problem in the partition table of the windows laptop and the vmware provided had a missing lua script, so virtualbox was chosen...

Distro Hopping

Posted 10-31-2012 at 12:50 PM by scorpioofthewoods

We all do it at one time or another. At some point(s) the urge hits you for whatever reason to try another distro. So lately I have been distro hopping.

I was happily using Debian Sid some time ago for quite awhile. But then my time became limited and things got a little crazy when Gnome 3 started rolling in. So at that time I switched to Ubuntu. Ubuntu is great when you don't have much time to play with your OS and just want things to work (for the most part). I have used it for...

Your dad gives you moderate warning about being ill but you barely care. So you go, and see there's a season offer: pick up any flavour of icecream, without any cost.

semanage fcontext -a -t cupsd_etc_t /etc/opt/brother/Printers/mfcj6710dw/inf
restorecon -v /etc/opt/brother/Printers/mfcj6710dw/inf
semanage fcontext -a -t cupsd_var_run_t /etc/opt/brother/Printers/mfcj6710dw/inf/brmfcj6710dwrc
restorecon -v /etc/opt/brother/Printers/mfcj6710dw/inf/brmfcj6710dwrc
The remaining files...

Fedora 17 and the nvidia geforce display driver

Posted 07-13-2012 at 06:27 PM by subvertigo

This is how I installed the nvidia driver in Fedora 17 for 64 bit x86 without using a 3rd party repository. My experience will not work with all configurations.

1. Download a compatible 64 bit x86 display driver from (32 bit x86 display drivers are at

2. Install the kernel-devel and gcc packages.

3. Create the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf...
