OnLive + Wine = Windows Gaming on Linux

Posted 04-05-2012 at 12:09 AM by stretchedthin

I think I posted this once on LQ in response to a question. Still desearves to be part of the blog though.

Onlive is gaming in the cloud. Designed for Windows and Mac but unintentionally, it is also a leap forward for Linux (and Mac) users who want easy access to the world of Windows PC games. Hundred's of games are available, but Wine need only run the OnLive client in order to play them all. Also worth mentioning is the upcoming client for Android tablets. Could mean a full Linux client potentially in the future, but until then Wine patched with raw input patch does the trick nicely.
