Job-less

Posted 01-19-2011 at 11:11 AM by stefragre

Apples Steve Jobs is a cancer survivor, like me, and he's a genius, and I'm not. But I can readily sympathize with his decision to retreat from the job he has. My own situation with cancer and the treatment I went through were similar, I ran a small
painting business, and knew I had to completely let it go. My treatment was extensive and time consuming, and because I had good people working for me I sold the business
to keep it going. Fortunately a competitor bought it and saved some jobs. As for me
I am extremely lucky to be alive, thank God. After all I had two rounds of intensive
chemo and radiation, and major surgery. I am 5 years out and enjoying my life and spend a lot of free time with computers. I'm no geek. I don't have any degrees or anything. But as an opinionated power user I like Linux and enjoy learning and meeting people..
