GRUB killed by bad update

It will happen to you eventually, if you run a dual-boot linux system.
One day, you will allow an automatic kernel update, which will update the GRUB boot loader configuration to accommodate the new kernel. Then, the next time you boot your machine, GRUB will hang. Something went wrong with the update to the GRUB configuration, and you are screwed!
Get yourself out of this fix before it happens---download and burn a Super Grub Disk from http://www.supergrubdisk.org/
That way, in an emergency, you can use a CD-ROM (or bootable USB device) as a substitute for the Master Boot Record on your hard drive. If the GRUB on your hard drive hangs, just use the Super Grub Disk to boot your hard drive. You will be able to boot any of your operating systems, just as before, because the Super Grub Disk will read what information it can from your hard drive to automatically determine where the various boot sectors are for the different systems.
Do yourself a favor, and make a Super Grub Disk today.
