Suggestions

Posted 06-08-2014 at 12:04 PM by rokytnji

This is my take on new Linux users migrating from Windows for what ever reasons. Usually any more when I see the word of suggestion in a thread title. I avoid it like the plague now.

The reasoning in my mind is as follows.

One looses their living abode due to some disaster that leaves them homeless.

You show up and offer living quarters for free with no strings attached.

A day or two later they show up on your doorstep and complain why...

Broadcom Wireless

Posted 08-04-2013 at 02:45 PM by rokytnji

First, this really isn't an Ubuntu or a Debian or a Mint issue. The problem likely lies with Broadcom and their lack of availability of firmware information for their wireless hardware. Broadcom does make a "generic" wireless driver for Linux, but it allegedly doesn't work with everything. Therefore, the Ubuntu development team have had to use fwcutter to pull the firmware information from a Windows driver to build one that works for Linux. AntiX 8.5 i486 and i686 Core Iso

Posted 06-24-2010 at 05:37 PM by rokytnji

A Cli installer is now available for AntiX 8.5. This is for the hardware challenged computer users or if you want to start with nothing and build your Applications and Desktop from Scratch using Debian Squeeze Repositories or even Sidux ones . The related thread is in this forum below. I have installed i686 core iso and have had a enjoyable experience installing what I want. From Desktop (Fluxbox) to File Managers. Pretty cool.
