I moved recently to the Seattle area for a job with Amazon.

I'd had Time Warner Cable in San Antonio, which was woefully under-saavy for some of the stuff I was wanting to do (mostly revolving around IPv6), so I was excited to see what opportunities there were with new ISPs in Seattle. My wife didn't want to live *in* Seattle, so we got a nice rental setup out near Renton, a little ways south of Seattle.

One of our next door neighbors is a Comcast employee, as evidenced...

The time has come for me to bid farewell to San Antonio. I accepted a position at Amazon's Seattle office so I could get my wife closer to her aging Dad (who we haven't seen since our wedding over a decade ago).

It's a real bittersweet time for me. My team at Rackspace is (and will likely be for a very long time) the coolest group of people I've ever had the pleasure of working with...and on top of that, I had the best customers a Linux tech could ask for. Sure, the occasional...

home network vlan fun!

I recently posted about carving out /30 vlans for the Windows machines on my network at home. It's been working well, so I decided to carve up the remaining network to provide some layer of separation between devices.

Testing a new toy

The other day while running a maintenance for a customer in which we had settled on communicating via IM, I noted that typing on my android was a pain. Sure, the on screen keyboard is ok if I'm texting a quick message or typing out a short explanation of the final deal, but going from my laptop to the android and back for each step was getting old...so I figured it was time to grab a bluetooth keyboard and wire it up to a Galaxy tablet and test it out...only my wife beat me to it and picked one...
